Create an Educational Video for Preschool
A good preschool educational video is short, deliberately repetitive, and features a recognizable character. Everything else is secondary.
The Right Length
For three- to four-year-olds, 60 to 90 seconds per topic is realistic; for preschoolers, two to three minutes. Better three short videos on three concepts than one long one on ten.
One Topic, One Sentence
Formulate the learning objective as a sentence: "Mia learns why you wash your hands before eating." This sentence is sufficient as a starting point for the entire story.
Repetition Is No Mistake
The key concept should appear three to four times: once as a question, once in the action, once as an explanation, once at the end as a brief summary. Children learn through recognition, not through variety.
Language
- Short main sentences, maximum twelve words.
- Concrete words instead of generic terms: "soap" instead of "hygiene products."
- One voice actor per character – consistent across all videos.
One Character for the Whole Series
Use the same main character in all videos for your group. Describe them precisely once and include them in every subsequent project – this creates a small series that children can immediately recognize.
Practical Workflow
- Write down the learning objective as a sentence.
- Generate a preview and check dialogues – does the vocabulary suit the group?
- Adjust scenes, replace words that are too difficult.
- Generate the film, show it to the group, note reactions.
- Next topic with the same character.
Legal Aspects in Preschool Daily Life
Because characters and voices are generated, no real children appear in the video – this saves consents for photo and video recordings. Nevertheless, check your provider's rules before sharing videos with parents.
